| 20 June 2008 - GK Murray Wilson is shown in the photographs below presenting Dr. Briggs Council 4597 donation cheques. On the left GK Murray presented a $500 donation to Liz Friis (left) for the Glacier View Lodge Society. On the right, a $1000 donation was accepted by Sonya Gauvin of the Cumberland Lodge Society for the purchase of several single-button folder walkers for the residents., |

18 June 2008 - The
officers of Dr. Tillman Briggs Council #4597 for the 2008-2009
fraternal year were installed at Christ the King church by Acting District
Deputy Rollie Tassé. They are shown in the photo below:

2008 K of C Bursary Presentations:
Each year $1000 bursaries are presented to deserving graduates, one
from each of the local high schools. The recipients for 2008 are highlighted
below:
Ms Carrie Poborsa-Cox, Mark Isfeld High School graduate,
received the Mackenzie Witzel bursary from GK Murray Wilson and DGK
Rodger Burton on June 3rd. Although Carrie was absent from the ceremony
as she was returning from a Cape Scott trip, she was also awarded
two other bursaries that evening. Congratulations, Carrie!
In the centre, Ms. Eliza Killam, Highland High School
graduate, was awarded the Joe Clark bursary by GK Murray Wilson and
DGK Rodger Burton on June 5th. Eliza plans to attend the University
of Alberta and wants to become a French Immersion teacher and return
to the Valley upon graduation.
Ms Bobbi Elphicke was the Vanier High School graduate
who received the Gord McIntyre bursary from GK Murray Wilson on 12
June 2008. Ms. Elphicke, the mother of two boys, will be attending
North Island College in the Resident Care Attendant program. |

30 May 2008 -
Grand Knight Murray Wilson presented donation cheques totalling
$3250 to several Comox Valley organizations on behalf of the
Knights of Columbus Dr. Tillman Briggs Council #4597.
Shown, from left are Mac Wilson (President, Sonshine Club),
Brian Lunn (President, Comox Valley Prostate Support Group),
Grand Knight Murray Wilson (Knights of Columbus Dr. Tillman Briggs
Council 4597), Julie LeGoff (Director Comox Valley Pregnancy
Care Centre), Tom McNee (representative for the Vancouver
Island Kidney Foundation), and Christopher Bate (Executive
Director Eureka Support Group). Missing but also receiving
a donation was the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. |

On 19 May 2008, at the Cumberland Empire
Days parade, the Council's new Santa Maria replica float was
launched to help proclaim our 50th anniversary celebration
this year. The builders, Brothers Leo Gardner (left) and Jim
Landry, proudly rode the float through the cheers and appreciative
hand-clapping by the thousands of parade watchers lining the
route. The two were resplendent in their period costumes, thanks
to the sewing skill of Anne Landry. |

| 15 April 2008 - A Games Night hosted
by Council Bishop Hill Council 5468 (Campbell River) was held at At.
Patrick's Church Hall. Sixteen Brothers from our Dr. Briggs Council
4597 attended and had a great evening of fun and fellowship. Below

On
17 April 2008, Grand Knight Murray Wilson (left) presented a
$1500.00 donation cheque to St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation
Director Lynn Dashkewytch (centre) and cardiac technician
Beth Cosgrove. The donation is intended to help purchase additional
Holter Monitors, portable devices for continuously monitoring
the electrical activity of the heart for 24 hours or more. |

our Dr. Tillman Briggs Council #4597 gathered for an official
photograph to be published in the 50th Anniversary celebration
History Book. Decent weather resulted in a good turnout
for Bro. Barry Beardon to capture the faces for posterity. |
